The main growing regions in Burundi are Buyenzi, Kirimiro and Mumirwa, with the primary varietals bieng Bourbon, Jackson and Mibrisi. Most Burundi coffees are wet processed and harvested in February-June. Most of the coffee is shade grown and tends to be (unofficially) organic. Burundi joined the Cup of Excellence programme fairly recently. |
